Thanks for picking up my post!
My main objection, really, is to people who say that everything happens for a reason in cases of stories like, “My family was all together and my dog died. Things happen for a reason,” “I broke up with my boyfriend and then my best friend visited and we became engaged two years later! Things happen for a reason!”
I made this post quite short as a response to the overwhelming status updates on Facebook that make this claim.
It’s a theistic fallacy, I argue that there is always a “why” that is created through external unrelated factors.
This typically comes up when theists say, “Well, there has to be a reason that the universe was created and that we are here.” Well, sure, because the conditions of life were suitable and pikia survived the Cambrian explosion…
